Chin Augmentation Choices

Chin augmentation covers several ways to change the size, projection or length of the chin. Laid side by side, the choices make it easier to ask, before surgery, how each result would be corrected if it fell short.

Four ways to change the chin, one guide each

Lengthening a Short Chin: the vertical dimension and how it differs from adding projection.
Chin Implant Surgery: what to ask about implant size, placement and what removal or replacement would involve.
Sliding Genioplasty Bone Surgery: a bone-based option, and how to ask about its revision options.
Jawline Contouring with Filler: a nonsurgical route and its limits.

For outside background on these choices, a plastic surgery society has an article on plastic surgery options for a small or recessed chin, and an online medical encyclopedia has an entry on chin augmentation.

Match the guide to what you want changed

Start with the option that matches your goal: more length, more projection, an implant or a nonsurgical change. Then prepare your questions about revision for the consultation, so you know the plan before the first procedure.
